Dear Dark Lord (Horror/Comedy): The opening scene of a pilot that was a top 10 finalist in Final Draft’s Big Break screenplay competition. Cora struggles to find herself in the big city while satisfying the murderous urges of the Dark Lord she serves. This pilot is adapted from my web series of the same name, which screened at festivals across the US and is now available to watch on YouTube.

Characters

Eeek! A Bug’s Life. What a Wretched Film: A satirical review written by Blathers, the owl from Animal Crossing, for Hard Drive. This piece required me to immerse myself in Blathers’ voice and mannerisms while keeping a consistent flow of humor and punchlines.

Fallout: New Vegas NPCs: Character briefs for two NPCs that could live in the world of Fallout: New Vegas.

Quests

Ronan’s New Hat (Fantasy/Comedy): When Ronan’s new hat fails to impress his would-be lover Agatha, the odd paramour sends the player on a quest for cheese — leading to a Ratatouille-inspired reveal.

  • I wrote this quest for Genfanad, a sadly discontinued comedic retro MMORPG in the vein of Runescape. I worked closely with the lead writer on the game to refine the quest and ensure it followed a “but, then” structure to propel the story forward.
Interactive Dialogue

Ronan’s New Hat Dialogue: Interactive dialogue from the aforementioned quest “Ronan’s New Hat”.

  • This dialogue was written in machine-readable format specific to Genfanad’s engine. This required the dialogue to be structured into logic blocks rather than in a linear script format, meaning the dialogue is grouped by character and items the player interacts with regardless of the order the player may experience these interactions. I also included dialogue and interactions for when the player interacts with NPCs in between completing quest objectives (i.e. going back to a quest-giver without an important item or after initially refusing the quest).

The Wolf Among Us Scene: An interactive scene set in “The Wolf Among Us” universe. The scene employs a structure that allows interactivity while redirecting players onto a main path.
